The United Nations children’s agency – UNICEF – and the Rift Valley Institute today announced the launch of the Sudan Open Archive.
The web site reports that the Sudan Open Archive:
provides free digital access to contemporary and historical knowledge about Sudan. The initial version of the Archive consists primarily of technical reports and unpublished grey literature from the history of aid in Sudan, covering the period from the start of Operation Lifeline Sudan (OLS) in 1989 to the present day.
Some of the sample documents now available include:

- An Introduction to the Food Economies of Southern Sudan (1998)
- The Southern Sudan Vulnerability Study (1999 edition)
- The Jonglei Field Officers Handbook (1998)
- Towards a Baseline: Best Estimates of Social Indicators for Southern Sudan (2004)
- The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (2005)
- The Abyei Boundaries Commission Report (2005)
The SOA is a regional knowledge network, and “part of a regional knowledge network currently being developed by the Rift Valley Institute, with international and local partners.”
